Welcome to my first blog post! Today, I want to share my personal journey into the world of dry herb vaping (DHV). Growing up in the 90s and early 2000s, I only tried cannabis a handful of times before my late 30s. Don’t let that fool you into thinking I lived a clean life, though. Born in the 80s in the Midwest, beer was the substance of choice—lots of it! Birthday parties, holidays, and even Tuesday nights revolved around beer. Before I could even drive, I was already drinking, living life as if I’d never turn 30.
A Turning Point in Life
In my mid-20s, I became a dad, which led to significant changes in my lifestyle. I quit drinking for a couple of years, got married, welcomed more children, and received promotions at work over the years. As time went on, I eased back into social drinking, learning to enjoy alcohol responsibly rather than using it as a crutch.
Discovering Cannabis
A few years ago, cannabis was legalized in my state—first for medical use, then recreational. My wife, who has never been a big fan of alcohol, started using gummies to help her sleep. This sparked my interest in exploring cannabis further. We eventually moved from gummies to disposable vape pens and then cartridges, as gummies can get pricey.

One day, a friend introduced us to using a bong—an experience neither of us had tried before. The clean taste and smooth hit from the bong made me reconsider the long-term effects of using cartridges. I began searching for healthier ways to consume cannabis.
The Quest for a Discreet Option
While bongs and joints offered a more natural option compared to cartridges, the strong smell of flower posed a challenge. With teenagers at home, we needed to keep things discreet. Although cannabis is legal, we hadn’t yet discussed it openly with our kids, and I wanted to ensure we approached the topic responsibly. Conversations about drug and alcohol use weren’t really part of my upbringing and I want to handle it better for my children.

Diving into Dry Herb Vaping
After extensive research on Reddit and Google, I stumbled upon the world of dry herb vaping. Excited by the possibilities, I decided to purchase a Dynavap M device. I recommend signing up for their mailing list, as they frequently offer sales. If you’re interested, you can use my referral link for 20% off: Dynavap Referral Link.

I picked up a 2021 Dynavap M in Prism from Planet of the Vapes and cut out cart usage entirely, limiting combustion to just once a night. I found that using the Dynavap required practice, but the learning process has been rewarding. As I’ve grown older, I appreciate the slow, intentional experience of using a torch and the Dynavap, which feels far more satisfying than quickly hitting a cartridge.
Embracing the Experience
While using a dry herb vaporizer is more inconvenient and presents the risk of being caught by the kids, I find the slower pace of DHV enjoyable and relaxing. As winter approaches in the Midwest, I’m looking for ways to vape outside without the cold affecting my experience. My next purchase will likely be an Induction Heater (IH), which eliminates the need for a torch and is more practical in chilly conditions.

I’m considering options like the Flare from BFG or the rumored 3.0 version from YLL to support the Hyper tip/cap. And of course, I can’t ignore the allure of the Mad Heaters Tempest or the Dani Fusion 2.0. With Dynavap’s new fall colors, particularly the beautiful RosiuM, my vape acquisition syndrome (VAS) might just take over!
Conclusion
Thanks for joining me on my journey into dry herb vaping! I hope my story inspires others to explore healthier and more enjoyable ways to use cannabis. Stay tuned for more updates, tips, and insights as I continue this exciting adventure.
